BLAST Protein By Solace Asong
Rat keratin (K5) mRNA, 3' end
The protein I decided to look up was Keratin but in
the process of doing that, I came about the Rat Keratin. I was surprised to have
learnt that, keratin was also present in rats. I already knew the presents of
keratin in fishes. Keratin is of a family of fibrous structural proteins. It
is the key structure of making up hairs, claws and the outer layer of human skin.
Keratin also protects the epithelial cells from damage or stress. Some Keratin have been found to regulate key cellular activities, such as cell growth and protein synthesis.
The amino acid sequence is
" -SVGGSGFSASSGQGGGFSSGGGSSSSVKFVSTTSSSRRSFKS"
