Blog Post #2 Lydia Mikhail

The protein I searched for is polyphenol oxidase, which is an enzyme found in a lot of fruit and vegetables as well as coffee and tea. I chose this protein because on a whim and realized that coffee beans have proteins in them too! Proteins really are the answer to everything!
The amino acid sequence for the polyphenol oxidase precursor is:

The first 10 amino acids translate to:
Methionine-alanine-serine-leucine-glutamine-serine-leucine-phenylalanine-isoleucine-proline
The first 15 lines of the nucleotide sequence is:

  1. Cool choice of protein Lydia!

Who would've thought that coffee has protein in it, I guess i'll have to double my cup of coffee to get extra protein!!

  2. Hi Lydia,
I love a good cup of coffee or tea so I thought your protein was cool. I wonder what the function of the protein is, especially because its found in a variety of sources. Good post!
