Lab 4: Blast (Globulin)

  1. I decided to choose Globulin which is a protein that is produced by the liver and immune system. It is an important molecule that take up half of the total protein within blood, the other half being Albumin. Its function is to transport ions, hormones, and lipids in order to assist the immune system. It is one of the three major blood protein in our body.
  2. The exact protein I chose is called globulin precursor or in other words Zea mays (Accession AAA33467). Zea Mays is the scientific name for corn.

  1. Hi! Great post. You said globulin and albumin made up half of the total blood proteins each, but in the end you said there were 3 major blood proteins. What is the third protein? Thanks:)

  2. Hi Aziz,
I think your research on Globulin is closely related to most of the organisms in the world. You mentioned that this protein takes up half of the total protein within blood, which is interesting to know how crucial a role it plays in our bodies and I am sure studying about this protein can greatly broaden our sight of animal biology.

  3. Hi Aziz, thank you for your information about globulin. After reading your post I understand that globulin is an important protein. Cute picture with the corn and the squirrel.
